Always New, York City
For as long as I could remember, New York City was always ‘my’ city. Growing up a little over an hour away in Long Island and taking trips in since I was an infant, I can with much pride call it my home away from home- or, more accurately, my playground away from home.
What I find amazing about this city is each experience and period of time that I’ve visited, or lived here, has been so extremely different from the last. The people that filter in and out, and the day to day life that never leaves a dull second.
I let tourists show me around, instead of me showing them.
With each person who has moved here from another city or country, I have been able to see this city through their perspectives and visions. As comfortable and ‘at home’ I am with NY, never once have I walked down a street in Soho or LES and thought, ‘this is getting old’ or said ‘I’ve been here before.’
With that being said, I’ve had many relationships with this city. I’ve re-explored and fallen in over and over again.
